Robot 2.0 is an upcoming Indian bilingual science fiction film shot in Tamil and Hindi languages, and has been directed by S Shankar. In a sequel to his Tamil film Anthyran (2010), the film will feature prominent roles of Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson. The film has been produced by Aliazahah, the publication of Lyka Productions, which is expected to be the biggest budget in history, in Indian cinema. The film is $ 3.5 billion (US $ 52 million). According to 2.0, the film started its first program with a shooting scheduled for December 16, 2015. The film is about to be released in cinemas in 2017. The spiritual successor of the 2010 Tamil film Anthyran, in the film, Rajinikanth is conferred with Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson with Dr. The roles of Vasirigaran and Chitra will be reproduced. Soundtrack album will be composed by AR Rahman while theater, editing and production design will be handled by Nirvana Shah, Anthony and T. Muthuraj. Respectively The film will be released in three languages: Tamil, Hindi and Telugu

In a press release with the introduction of the film, it also came to know that Resulpukutty will handle sound designing, Legacy effects will take care of the work of animatronics and Mary E. Vogue will prepare special clothing. Stunts choreographer Kenny Bates and visual effects expert John Hughes and Walt Jones were also signed to work on the film. In June 2016, the film’s sound engineer Resulpukutty revealed during the production that the film would not work as a sequel to Anthyran, rather a spiritual successor.
Akshay Kumar started filming in Chennai in early March 2016 and participated in an event organized in EVP Film City Studios in Chennai. A set of a mobile phone store was built on location, while the night-watching robot equipment and military tanks were included. Later, the team went to Delhi for a forty-days program from the same scene with the military tanks shot in Chennai.  After this, the team depicted an Indian super league match between Chennai FC and Mumbai City FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, in which hundreds of junior artists recruited to work as supporters. Actors Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan visited the film set in the stadium with media reporting that the pair was ready for the performance of Cameo, although the claim was later rejected by the team. Rajinikanth joined the team in Delhi in the end of March to continue shooting for the project, climax scenes were being filmed. Action scenes associated with robotic devices were filmed in Delhi in early April, in which cinematographer Nirvah Shah used helicopter to capture scenes involving three main artists. With the title 2.0, the film commenced its first program with the shooting on December 16, 2015. The film is about to be released in cinemas in 2017
